171 NACD Member Companies Achieve On-Site RDP Verification

The National Association of Chemical Distributors (NACD) is pleased to announce that 171 Regular member and Affiliate companies sites have successfully passed NACD's 3rd-cycle on-site Responsible Distribution ProcessSM (RDP) Verifications since January 2007.

These organizations continually demonstrate their commitment to the implementation of RDP’s environmental, health, safety, and security (EHS&S) requirements.

Successfully demonstrating, through on-site verifications, implementation of EHS&S policies and procedures under RDP's Code of Management Practice to an independent third-party verifier has been a condition of membership in NACD since 1997. RDP Verification (RDPV) is required once every 36 months. The current three-year verification cycle ends June 2010.

"Today's economic environment is of concern to the chemical distribution industry," said NACD’s President Chris Jahn. "All NACD member and Affiliate companies that successfully pass RDP not only demonstrate their commitment to environmental, health, safety, and security measures, but are better positioned to face today’s challenges."

In keeping with RDP's goal for continuous improvement, significant enhancements were incorporated into this 3rd-cycle on-site RDP Verification process. RDP Verification is and has been management systems-based, and now also addresses operationally-based EHS&S issues applicable to the site being verified.

National Association of Chemical Distributors (NACD)
The National Association of Chemical Distributors (NACD), established in 1971, is an international association with over 250 chemical distributor member companies in the USA. NACD also has member companies in Canada and in Europe. A key condition of membership in the Association is the verification of the company’s Responsible Distribution Process (RDP) policies and procedures by a third-party company. RDP requires members to continuously improve performance in protecting health, safety, security, and the environment.
