The IMCD Group has made an entry into the Indonesian market following the signing of an agreement to acquire all the activities of PT Alam Subur Tirta Kencana, a Jakarta-based leading food ingredients distributor. IMCD will also acquire Alam Subur's affiliated company PT Sapta Permata. Once the necessary approvals have been obtained and the deal finalised, all businesses will come under the newly formed entity, PT IMCD Indonesia.
Mr Eduard Utama, founder of Alam Subur, says: “We are delighted with our partnership with IMCD. This will enable us to grow further. We will benefit from sharing best practices and know-how and will be able to expand our product offering”.
With offices and warehouses in Jakarta, Alam Subur is a leading distributor and supplier for food and beverage ingredients. It also supplies nutraceutical & pharmaceutical ingredients. Founded in 1999, the company currently employs about 100 employees, comprised of sales and marketing, technical and administration team. Sapta Permata was founded in 2002 and has 20 employees.
Commenting on the deal, Mr Albert Stevens, Vice President Asia for IMCD Group, says: “This is an important step in realisation of our strategy in the largest and fastest growing country of Southeast Asia, where we foresee tremendous growth prospects. Alam Subur's expertise and knowledge of a diverse and huge market like Indonesia will be an asset for our expansion strategy.”
Business partners of Alam Subur have been notified of the change and IMCD will ensure smooth business transition with no disturbance to Alam Subur’s current activities. All employees of Alam Subur will transfer to IMCD. Mr Utama will continue to lead IMCD Indonesia.
