Omya continues US expansion with the purchase of Durr Marketing Associates and Azalea Color

January 16, 2012

Omya Distribution LLC have announced that they have acquired Durr Marketing Associates and Azalea Color Company. Durr Marketing Associates and Azalea Color Company are leading chemical distributors in the eastern United States for specialty chemicals sold to the plastics, paints and coatings, and construction industries.

The company has strong relationships with over 25 chemical manufacturers, and offers over 750 products to more than 1,000 customers in these end markets. The company is well positioned in the US market, and when combined with existing Omya resources establishes a nationwide distribution network with deep expertise in high-growth industries. In 2010, Omya acquired Lipscomb Chemical Company, a California-based distributor servicing the Western and Southwestern US markets.

“Omya is an excellent partner for Durr Marketing and Azalea,” said David Durr, President of Durr Marketing and Azalea Color. “The combination will create many synergies by providing enhanced services for our customers, access to a broader base of chemical manufacturers and products, and opportunities to leverage the global sourcing capabilities of Omya.”

“We are extremely pleased to announce the acquisition of Durr Marketing Associates and Azalea Color,” said Anthony Colak, CEO of Omya Region Americas. &ldquourr and Azalea have a highly complementary business model to Omya's, and provide a strong platform for future growth in the large and rapidly growing US specialty chemical distribution markets.”
