IMCD has acquired the business of Mumbai -based Mata Polymers Pvt Ltd

December 13, 2011

IMCD has acquired the business of Mumbai-based Mata Polymers Pvt Ltd, an established player in the silicone, textile and construction markets in India. The business has been fully integrated into IMCD India and the deal further strengthens the Group's expansion strategy in the Asia-Pacific region.

“With a reputation of a highly transparent partner in Europe and our plans to aggressively expand in Asia over the coming years, IMCD continues with its goal to be a preferred distributor for the leading suppliers of speciality products in India”, says Piet van der Slikke, CEO of IMCD Group. “This acquisition offers IMCD India a possibility to further align with some of our major suppliers.” Wacker AG is one of Mata Polymers key Principals and are also one of IMCD's most important Principals globally. IMCD represent Wacker extensively in the Asia-Pacific and EMEA regions and so this acquisition helps them further build their relationship with them.

Vijay Ranshinge, Managing Director IMCD India, added: “Mata Polymers is a reputable player in the silicones market and their portfolio perfectly complements ours in India. With our expertise and network, we will be positioned to better serve our customers in Southern & Western regions of India. This pan-Indian approach will further enhance the service and products that we can offer to the customers in this market segment, along with our capability to take over expansive technical support.”

IMCD has taken a number of steps lately to strengthen its position in Asia-Pacific region. Those include Warwick and Infineum acquisitions in Malaysia and Australia, respectively, and the opening of the IMCD technical centre in India.
