IMCD continues to expand its pharmaceutical ingredients business with the acquisition of Organotec, Italy

December 6, 2011

The IMCD Group B.V. has announced that IMCD Italia S.p.a. has signed an agreement with Organotec S.r.l. to acquire their fine chemicals distribution business in Italy. Organotec will be fully integrated into IMCD Italia beginning January 2012.

“IMCD is continually looking to strategically expand its operations,” commented Gabriele Bonomi, Managing Director IMCD Italia. “Organotec is a reputable player in fine chemicals market in Italy and their portfolio perfectly complements ours in Italy. On the other hand, our expertise and network in other markets open up possibilities for Organotec's principals to enter new market sectors. These are all the reasons that made IMCD and Organotec a perfect match.”

Organotec has twenty-five-year experience in the field of special organic chemical products and fine chemicals particularly to the pharmaceutical industry. With strong focus on R&D, the company offers a wide range of highly specialised intermediates for both existing and future synthesis projects for the manufacture of drugs and finished products. Most of Organotec's principals are FDA approved, ISO certified and work under cGMP conditions.

With more than 60 pharma focused technical sales experts in over 20 countries, the IMCD Business Group Pharmaceuticals is one of the leading distributors of speciality pharmaceutical ingredients.

This is a third acquisition for IMCD Group this year, following Ethnichem in South Africa for the personal care and pharmaceutical markets and recent Infineum in Australia for the lubricants market.
