Reports on Greece, Romania and Bulgaria have just been published as part of series of reports to be produced in the coming months on the chemical distribution market in the CEE region & Europe.

“We are delighted to have completed our first publically available reports since 2008's UK Chemical Distributor Market Report” says David Brown, Managing Director (joint) at Chemagility. “We believe our reports will give the senior management of chemical companies, consultancy groups and investment groups a unique insight into the chemical distribution sector, an area where reliable information is notoriously hard to obtain.”

Between them Greece, Romania and Bulgaria account for around 17% of the total chemical distribution market in the CEE and Balkan region which was worth around €7Bn in 2014 and, according to Chemagility, these countries are forecast to grow at a CAGR of +1.8%, 6.7% and +4.5% respectively between 2015-2020.

Greece's chemical distribution sector had been surprisingly resilient in the aftermath of the global economic crisis but the uncertainty prior to the country's 3rd bailout has placed the industry in a precarious position. Whereas distributors in Bulgaria and Romania should see business improving more strongly over the next few years, assuming no further external shocks.

“They maybe Balkan neighbours but the chemical distribution markets in these countries often exhibit more differences than similarities,” adds Brown. “Multinationals distributors may have developed strong positions in some CEE countries but this is certainly not the case in Greece for instance, which remains largely controlled by local, family-owned businesses.”

The reports on Greece, Romania and Bulgaria can be purchased individually from the company’s website (www.chemagility.com). Chemagility also plans to publish a new report on the UK chemical distribution market by the end of 2015 with further reports on other countries following during the course of 2016.
