Group Overview

The Omya Group is a world-class producer of fillers based on calcium carbonate, talc and dolomite and also a major specialty chemical distributor. Omya provides complete solutions for its customers, so alongside its own calcium carbonate and talc products it sells complementary specialty chemicals sourced from well-known principals from around the world.

In Europe, Omya has 15 highly specialised warehouse facilities that meet the stringent requirements of its principals and customers. All are ISO 9000 certified, temperature controlled facilities with excellent local logistics infrastructure. These warehouses cater for the needs of 30 sales offices from the Atlantic to the Ural and from Scandinavia to the Mediterranean. Most offer repackaging and customized packaging services.

Omya's main segments of activity are: Paper, Paints, Coatings, Adhesives, Plastics, Animal Feed, Food, Construction, Environment and Agriculture. Omya takes pride in being at the forefront of research and application development through central laboratories providing technical assistance in Oftringen (Switzerland). These facilities are a key asset of the distribution business providing a unique technical service to customers, and consequently, to principals.

The Global Distribution Services (GDS) team at Omya is dedicated to developing, managing and coordinating the group-wide distribution activities. It capitalizes on local expertise and leverages this globally to achieve long-term, sustainable growth for principals. Today, Omya, a privately owned company since 1884, ranks among the 10 biggest chemical distributors in Europe.
